Czech Petr Svoboda to stand for injured Perez Gonzalez
28. 3. 2022
Czech team Accolade Smrz Racing owned by Jakub Smrž recently took part in a first winter test of the season on the circuit of Calafat in Spain. Both permanent riders of the team were present, rookie Yeray Saiz Marquez and also José Luis Perez Gonzalez, for whom the test did not end well when he broke his femur and collarbone in a big crash. For the first race weekend of the World Supersport 300 category that will take place in Aragon, Spain, on 8-10 April he will be replaced by a Czech rider Petr Svoboda.
Jakub Smrž (team manager): ?José had a surgery on his femur that went well and it looks like he will not be out of action for very long. If everything goes well, he will miss one or two races. For these races he will be replaced by a Czech rider Petr Svoboda, which I am happy about. Petr showed last year that he belongs in the world championship. When José comes back, we will try to do as many races as possible with Petr as a wild card and a third rider of the team but we need to see what we can do because last year the organiser limited the number of riders on the starting grid. In any event we wish José a speedy recovery and we can?t wait to see him on track to continue his good form from last year. We were able to collect a lot of important information and experience last year and we trust that this season will be successful for us and our partners.?
Petr Svoboda: ?What happened within a few days is like a dream to come true. I would like to say thank you to WRP and Kuba for this opportunity. I am looking forward to Aragon, I like the track. The biggest change will be the Kawasaki and I can?t wait to see how we get on and improve. We will have a test there before the race so I will have enough time to understand everything and set off in the right direction on Friday. I would also like to wish José a speedy recovery. Once again huge thanks to everyone who?s made this possible, I am really grateful and I will give it my best.?
